Sara Sellitto is a Kansas City-based ceramic artist and yoga instructor where she teaches classes and workshops on bridging creative processes in a way to better understand the human condition.

Through ceramics, with an emphasis on alternative glazing, her practice examines the decomposition of the elements of the forest floor. Through yoga, with the emphasis on the breath, her classes address being fully present in the human body.

Her current studio project, Sacred Kingdoms, explores fungi at the micro level in the stages of living, dying, diseased, and decay in relationship to the human body. Most recently she has conducted workshops addressing the intersection of the introduction of the creative process through collage within a yoga studio.

She has exhibited at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) Kansas City, California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts, University of California Davis, Palazzo Piccolomini, Pienza, Italy, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco. Her work is in the permanent collection at Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby, Illinois.

In addition, she is the owner/founder of East Lake Healing Arts. ELHA's bridges creative arts therapy and movement therapy in traveling workshops around the United States.

I am inspired by the natural process of decomposition within the elements of the forest floor. To observe these ecosystems is to see into small universes of life. I see these elements as an extension of ourselves and our own life cycle.

My methods of creation are organic in form, each piece being unique. I explore and document the different stages of the decomposition process, revealing an elegant, beautiful destruction.
