| Interview with Todd
Scholtz
|
| How long have you
been doing ceramic work? |
About 24 years. |
| Who or what inspires
you? |
I get most inspired when I am introducing someone new
to clay. I love the interaction and the flow of ideas when talking
about their work. |
| What is
your favorite kind of ceramic work? |
Funky, challenging art. Robert Arneson, Adrian Saxe. |
| How long have you been
teaching? |
About 3 years at the KC Clay
Guild. |
| What skill level do you
teach? |
I teach beginners to advanced students. |
| Do you teach Wheel Throwing or Hand
Building Techniques? |
Mostly wheel thrown pieces that are altered in some way
which incorporates some hand building techniques. |
| What can students expect to learn
from your class? |
They will be taught the basics
of wedging, centering, throwing, trimming and glazing. More advanced students
will learn more advanced techniques. |
| What kind of atmosphere does your
class have? |
Loose.
Fun. Drink some beer, eat some pizza and throw some pots! |
| Is there anything that makes
your class special? |
Just that we're considered the wild party
group! |
| Is there anything else you'd like to
say to prospective students? |
This class ain't boring! Never a dull moment. Don't forget to bring some beer. (That's what my students said
to put here.)
