Holiday Pottery Sale and Studio
Tour Questions and Answers |
|
What is the Holiday Pottery Sale and
Tour? The KC Clay Guild is happy to sponsor this unique
tradition where Kansas City clay artists open their studios to the
public during the first weekend in December. |
|
Who can participate in the Pottery Sale &
Tour? Anyone who pays the entry fee is eligible to
participate. |
|
How do I register for the Holiday
Sale? 1. Register online www.kcclayguild.org/kccgholidaytourinstructions.htm
OR 2. Fill out enclosed registration
form & mail in with entry fee. |
|
What is the entry fee? The non-refundable
entry fee $50. |
|
What if we’re a couple? For each artist
listed BY NAME or BY PHOTO, an entry fee must be paid.
Example: Jane and John Doe = 2 names, 2 photos in the
brochure, 2 entry fees. If you are listed by one name only,
and require only one photo, there is only one fee.
Example: Black Dirt Pottery = 1 name, 1 photo, 1 entry
fee. You may have multiple individuals listed under a business
name IF ALL THE INDIVIDUALS PAY THE ENTRY FEE. |
|
What will the photo brochure look like? We
are pleased to continue to offer a poster size brochure printed IN
COLOR! The brochure will feature color photos of members’
works on one side, while the other side will have a map and
information about the artists’ locations. Each paid entry fee
entitles the artist to 25 folded color brochures to distribute, plus
2 flat posters for advertising. |
|
When is the deadline for entry? You must have
your entry form completed online or mailed in, entry fees paid, and
a piece of artwork to be photographed delivered to the KC Clay Guild
by Saturday, October 18th. NO EXCEPTIONS. |
|
What is the Holiday Preview Show?
To help promote the upcoming Holiday Tour & Sale,
the Centered Earth Gallery will host the Holiday Preview
Show in November. During November the public will be able
to see your best work and decide which locations they will want to
visit on the tour. |
|
How will the public find my studio? Marking your
location with yard signs or small banners can increase your
sales traffic. These may be purchased from the Guild at $5
per sign, or $15 pr banner. Request for signs and banners should
be marked on your entry form, and paid for with your
application. They will be available for pick-up by the first week of
November. We will notify you by phone or email when
they are ready to pick up. |
|
Can I get more maps if I need
them? Yes! Extra maps/brochures can be requested,
in bundles of 25 for the cost of $10. If you are mailing the
brochures, you must add your own first class postage stamps.
The Guild’s permit number only works for bulk mailing, and your
brochures will be returned if you don’t use stamps. |
|
What if I don’t have a studio or home to show
from? The Clay Guild is able to offer a limited number
of spaces at the Guild studio which applicants can
request. Space is limited to 16 artists; this space is
reserved on a first come, first paid basis. The actual spot will be drawn
from a hat on 12-03-08. Artists and thier
spot will be posted on the bulletin board. Spots may
be traded as long as both parties agree. Guild members sharing
the studio space will contribute a 10% commission of their total
sales to the Guild. All 16 artists must be available to help
clean on the nights of Friday, December 6th, and they will be
expected to return the Guild to proper working order at the end of
the show on Sunday, December 7th. |
