Here's what Joe Conard has to say about his experience joining the KC Clay Guild.
"I had seen a lot of shows on T.V. about people making pottery and it looked like a lot of fun. I had never done pottery but that wasn't going to stop me from trying. I looked through the phone book and called a few places looking for a place where I could actually MAKE my own pottery. When I called the KC Clay Guild, the person was friendly and the prices were within my budget. I started off as a non-member and paid the full price for clay and studio time just because I wasn't sure I wanted to make the commitment. The moment my hands touched that spinning ball of clay I was hooked! I paid for a membership and signed up for the monthly studio pass (an awesome deal if I do say so myself) because I knew I was going to spend more than 10 hours a month playin with clay. Then with the help of the friendly monitors, clay guild members and some generous teachers who gave gave me little tips and tricks along the way, I was making beautiful pottery in just a few months! As I continued to become more involved with the clay guild I started volunteering as a monitor. My involvement continued to increase and I also became the treasurer for a couple years. The KC Clay Guild is a great place to make ceramic art and a place where I have made many new friends. I give the KC Clay Guild 2 potter's thumbs up!"
